Description
Graphic Series VIII by Linda Grüneberg is a tribute to the art of weaving and its design principles, particularly inspired by the color and form language of the Bauhaus. Her artistic exploration focuses on the method of design.
Pattern paper, a tool used in traditional weaving to design textile patterns, serves as the basis for her creations. Grüneberg translates this grid into the linocut technique by preparing the printing block with a laser-cut, intricate grid structure.
Her works develop from simple forms and fundamental rules, based on historical examples such as Gunta Stölzl's tapestry "5 Chöre". The result is works whose geometric aesthetics and minimalist expression embrace the core ideas of Bauhaus textiles.
The patterns are created by the artist applying cut-out stencils precisely to the predefined grid of the paper using a stippling brush or stamping technique. The finished graphics are neither representational nor figurative and do not convey direct emotions. They possess an autonomous, self-contained quality and aim to depict beauty and harmony.
Each individual sheet is handcrafted and unique.
