Dear friends of Galerie Paul Scherzer,
Galerie Paul Scherzer is pleased to announce the addition of a new artist to its program: Linda Grüneberg has officially joined the ranks of represented artists since September.

Background
Linda Grüneberg is part of the artist group "Stella Matko", which presented a highly acclaimed exhibition at the gallery this summer, together with Nora Mona Bach, Katharina Gahlert, Michal Fuchs, Katja Neubert and Charlotte Antony.
During this exhibition, I had the opportunity to get to know not only Linda Grüneberg's artistic work but also her as a person a little better. Her attitude towards art, her precise way of speaking about her own work, and of course her pieces, especially the graphics from Series VIII shown at the exhibition, left a strong impression on me.

Series VIII
Series VIII connects to the stringency of Grüneberg's previous work while also marking a new, exciting development within her oeuvre. The works are based on a reduced, clear principle: stencil printing on paper. The starting point is a printed, always consistent grid that serves as a structure-giving foundation. On this basis, the artist develops a multitude of design variations using various stencils. The process is based on the technique of pattern paper in traditional weaving crafts.

The grid functions as a frame or matrix within which the creative work unfolds. This interplay is reminiscent of the principle of order and play that underlies many cultural forms of expression – visible, for example, in musical forms such as the fugue or in the logic of chess, where the rule matrix defines the space of possibilities.

Particularly appealing is the harmony that arises between structural order and free play. Pure order remains static; free play without a framework loses itself in arbitrariness. Linda Grüneberg's works move precisely within this field of tension, making the principle of order and play tangible.
I am very much looking forward to presenting works from Series VIII and future works by the artist.
Paul Scherzer
