Description
Linda Grüneberg 's graphic series VIII is an homage to the art of weaving and its design principles, particularly inspired by the color and form language of the Bauhaus. The design process itself is central to her artistic exploration.
The basis of her creations is pattern paper, a tool used in traditional weaving to create patterns on textiles. Grüneberg translates this grid into the linocut technique by preparing the printing block with a laser-cut, delicate grid structure.
Her works evolve from simple forms and fundamental rules, inspired by historical models such as Gunta Stölzl's tapestry "5 Choirs". The result is a range of works whose geometric aesthetic and minimalist expression embody the core ideas of Bauhaus textiles.
The patterns are created by the artist precisely applying cut-out stencils to the pre-defined grid of the paper using a stippling brush or stamping technique. The finished prints are neither representational nor figurative and do not convey any direct emotions. They possess an autonomous, self-contained quality and aim to depict beauty and harmony.
Each individual leaf is handmade and unique.
